It's so loud DS15 asked to leave because it was hurting his ears. We did leave and I told the staff on the way out we were leaving because it's uncomfortably loud and asked if it's possible to turn the volume down.
Reply = we can't alter it, it's set at that volume as the director insists viewers experience it like that.

Also I'm surprised it's not a 15. Considering parents can take under 12s to it, I thought how sad young kids can view this level of violence.

And while I'm at it, the husband treats his wife like shit all the way through.

What a strange response re the sound level. How unpleasant for you.
I took my youngest to watch a kids film and it was ridiculously loud. Most children had their hands over their ears and all the parents were looking around at each other to see if everyone was thinking the same.
I eventually spoke to the people behind me and we agreed it was unbearably loud so i went out and spoke to someone who looked at me like I was a right snowflake.

Manager came and stood for a moment or two at what happened to be a silent bit with his arms folded. Then someone on screen spoke and he literally jumped and ran out. Sound went down a few minutes later. So they could almost certainly change it.

Totally agree with films being loud. I complained once about this and they did say it was set at a fixed level and I got a refund. My ears were really hurting.

Also I am concerned about film ratings these days especially 15 ratings the majority would have been an 18 when I was young. We need a Mary Whitehouse!

I found the sound design in general pretty weird - there were a few bits where I just couldn't hear the dialogue because the sound effects were too loud.

Thank goodness! I thought it was just me being an old gimmer. The music was so loud - combined with the muttering/evil villain whispering of the actors that I really struggled to follow an already confusing plot.
And I agree with the violence. I think a lot of movies get away with it by cutting away from the actual moment of impact but it’s still pretty grim
