I thought it was 'ok' - agree not a patch on Shrek adn not a patch on Cars either.

Ds3 is just 3 and ds2 is 4 - neither found it frightening.

DarthVader · 19/10/2007 09:53

if it is worse than cars I will have to leave part way through as I found that one beyond awful

Wish I had not bought the tickets now, maybe Stardust would have been a better bet

Gobbledispook · 19/10/2007 09:54

Cars is brilliant imo!! My kids love it anyway - they watch it on every blardy long car trip that we do! We know the script inside out and back to front!

Stardust looks good to me but dh says it's been slated in the press.

florenceuk · 19/10/2007 09:59

My DD (just turned 3) wanted to leave 30min in, so we missed a lot of this. For her, there just wasn't enough to keep her attention. DS(6) liked it but DH thought plot was quite sophisticated for young'uns, ie hard to follow. The little I saw looked good (i like good animation though), and the rats through the ceiling scene was extremely well done (not for vermin-phobic though). Stardust sounds like rubbish but with good actors.

binkleandflip · 19/10/2007 10:00

agree about stardust - looks like it might end up going down as a infamous turkey - like you say great actors, rubbish film.

DarthVader · 19/10/2007 18:38

My verdict - definitely over-long but a hell of a lot better than cars

DD rated it 8 out of 10

Oh, dh and I really enjoyed this, I thought it was fantastic. Ds (10) did too although dd (nearly 4) fell asleep. I think it was aimed at adults more than children but I thought it was sweet, beautifully done, original, evocative and an all round fab family film. Although I was a bit shocked at the use fo the word bloody, which isn't a big deal in our house but might annoy some parents. But yes, restaurant critics probably above most children and there wasn't much slapstick, which younger children love. And it was long.

I didn't think much of Shrek 3 on first viewing but thoroughly enjoyed it on second viewing

WideWebWitch · 20/10/2007 21:40

And I gave up on Cars within 10 minutes, thought it was diabolical, a complete indulgence of a movie.

WideWebWitch · 20/10/2007 21:40

And I thought Anton Ego may have been an anagram of Egon Ronay but it isn't, quite

collision · 20/10/2007 21:42

We are going to see this tomorrow!

DH is a chef and PHOBIC about rats and DS1 has told him it is a film about a little giraffe and not a rat!!

'They should have called it Giraffatouille Daddy but they got the name wrong!'

DH is playing along so DS will be highly amused that he has tricked Daddy!!

WideWebWitch · 20/10/2007 21:43

I think your dh will like it Collision, let us know what you think
