Not the obvious feel-good choice, I realise. But there are so many little moments. ("Ignore him; he's not a PhD.")

Oh yes I love it. Anthony is one of my faves and Jodie Forster is perfect.

Puppybum · 30/04/2020 20:18

Yes its fab

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 30/04/2020 20:26

yes...
my favourite bit is when he tracks down Clarice on the phone and her boss (??) is worried that Hannibal is going to come after her and she says with utter conviction "oh NO, he'd consider that rude"

also there is a small refrain of music that plays on and off which is practically identical to one in The Incredibles....that refrain haunted me for ages cos I KNEW I'd heard it before.

nearlynermal · 30/04/2020 20:41

Great angle on the music! (The incredibles are another favourite). I'm about to listen to the Slate Spoiler Specials podcast...

I love all four films and the books! If you haven’t read them I definitely recommend

nearlynermal · 02/05/2020 23:25

Ooh; I only know about two of them. Will have a google.

Yes, it’s one of my all time favourites.
It doesn’t matter how many times I watch it I am still shitting myself.
I’ve saw the other films but they just don’t do the same

nearlynermal · 13/05/2020 00:32

I saw the first one (man hunter?) ages ago in a country with heavy censorship, so it was about 50 mins long, and quite confusing! I've avoided seeing Hannibal, because the book was so out there I just couldn't imagine the film version working. But silence of the lambs was a great adaptation of the book, I thought.

Yes love it. So scary and memorable! Love the music playing when Billy is dressing up (shudder). It's Goodbye Horses by Q Lazzarus (um not sure of spelling) a fab 80s synth one hit wonder.

FrodoTheDodo · 02/06/2020 08:42

Love it! My best friend and I went through a phase of watching it to fall asleep when he stayed over! Amazing performances, gripping storyline, great soundtrack.

I also particularly love it as Anthony Hopkins is so serious and sinister but judging by his Twitter and interviews I've seen, in real life hes quite the comedian and very goofy. Yes, I know that's the point of acting btw 🙂

Ilovetolurk · 02/06/2020 08:44

Yes! I remember sitting in the cinema seeing it for the first time. The atmosphere at the beginning when she was running in the park. I thought something was going to happen to her

Queenoftheashes · 02/06/2020 08:58

I love it !

LashesZ · 02/06/2020 13:19

Oh my gosh yes! I love all the films. DP knows I love true stories so persuaded me to watch it. I was absolutely in awe until I found out it's not a biographical account Sad

FreeKitties · 02/06/2020 16:08

I don’t think silence of the lambs was ever marketed as being based on true stories

GlummyMcGlummerson · 09/06/2020 23:51

I was surprised to silence of the lambs parodied on a kids TV show recently! DD (8) is really into Sam & Cat, it's a few years old now it has Ariana Grande in. They do an episode that's a (really funny and spot on) parody of Silence of the Lambs. It even has the guy who played the prison warden in the film playing the same character. But if an odd one for kids!

superoz · 25/06/2020 14:00

Yes! It’s one of my favourite films, since it first came out in my teens. The acting in it is just awesome.

Jodie Foster was perfect as Clarice, I never took to Julianne Moore when she took over the part.

Patsypie · 25/06/2020 14:02

The TV series is magnificent

cicatrix1 · 27/06/2020 21:11

I was scared shitless when i went to see it ,but loved it all at the same time.

Jobseeker19 · 27/06/2020 21:13

I always find a way to fit in " It puts the lotion on its skin" in my life somehow

Thatcouldbeme · 27/06/2020 21:15

Love it! I love Red Dragon too, Ralph Fiennes and Anthony Hopkins are just perfect.

Phantom1 · 27/06/2020 21:30

This was a film I avoided for a few years thinking that it would just be gruesome and that's it. But having seen it, it's excellent. The leads were worthy Oscar winners. I also love the French and Saunders version!

Dhalandchips · 27/06/2020 21:33

I also love it, saw it in the cinema when it first came out and it still puts the willies up me now... Although is Ine bit that has always troubled me...
When Hannibal is restrained on the trolley with the hockey mask on, we see a pen and the implication is that somehow acquires the pen to release himself to attack the guards.
How does he get the pen???

WhistlersandJugglers · 27/06/2020 21:54

He got the pen from the creepy psychiatrist, didn't he? It's a brilliant film.
I liked the way Catherine Martin had a plan of her own and wasn't just waiting to be rescued.

YouLando · 06/08/2020 23:19

It's a great film. Manhunter is better though, IMHO. Brian Cox made an excellent Lecter. Red Dragon is a much more faithful adaptation of the Red Dragon book, but Manhunter is so much better as a film.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/08/2020 23:28

Mads Mikkelson is completely terrifying in the series Hannibal

He's just amazing, so frightening and erudite
