Non-animated film recommendations for a six year old

I feel like my daughter exclusively watches animated films (and TV shows) and I'd really like her to watch some 'real' films. Has anyone any recommendations that would work for a six year old?

Some great recommendations here, thanks. Some are so blinking obvious I don't know why I couldn't think of any!

We loved bedtime stories recently, also four kids and it is on sky and dd2 loved it! Mr poppers penguins is also meant to be good but we haven’t got round to that yet. Loved Charlie and the chocolate factory (gene wilder version)

BooseysMom · 12/04/2020 19:33

We watched the original Charlie & the Chocolate Factory today. My fave film as a child. My 6yo boy was totally absorbed which considering it's 1971 is incredible for him. Then when it was over he promptly announced he hated it. Of course!

My 6 year old loves E.T., but appreciate other people might not think it’s suitable

Don't be daft. Hugh Laurie famously isn't real. He's actually voiced by Judy Dench.

thingywotsit · 12/04/2020 19:58

We've just watched Charlottes web with my 7 & 4 year old and they were completely engrossed.

Wetcarparkrain · 12/04/2020 20:05

We watched candleshoe the other day and both loved it! (6yr old and me)

Redwinestillfine · 12/04/2020 20:09

Harry potter and the philosopher's stone?

princessconsuelabananahammock2 · 12/04/2020 21:01

Mine loves Princess Diaries, Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, Maleficent

BikeRunSki · 12/04/2020 21:04

What We Did on Our Holidays

Unseasonal, but all the Natvity! films

Sosie91 · 15/04/2020 07:02

My 7 year old loves high school musical, freaky Friday, greatest showman and princess diaries.

Any David Williams books that have been made into films are good too.

TV shows she loves Mallory towers and the worst witch on bbc up later. She also likes fuller house, the ibestigators and the big show on Netflix.

cravingthelook · 15/04/2020 07:06

Pete's Dragon!

HarrietTheShy · 17/04/2020 08:45

Dinosaur (Disney)
Babe
Homeward Bound
Any of the muppet movies
The first Harry Potter is probably juvenile enough for a 6-year-old.
Night at the Museum
Enchanted (Amy Adams)
Annie
Home Alone
