IMO!

Ones you can’t remake:
Matilda
Harry Potter
Dirty Dancing
Jurassic Park

Ones that have to be remade:
Twilight (poor acting on Kristen Stewart’s half)

And they need to stop making so many sequels, I mean I feel like fast and furious 70 is going to be released when I’m 80.
Also Toy Story, seriously a 4th one? The third one should have been that really.

What are your remakes and good old classics?!

One that'd I like to be redone is Logan's Run. There was talk of it but still nothing.

I read that a few years ago Madonna wanted to do a remake of Casablanca. She went round all the studios and all of them told her 'that movie is untouchable.' Hope it's true, it's s fab story if it is!

The railway children.. can never be better than the original.

Can't:
Breakfast club
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Lost Boys

Should:
Street Fighter - base it closer to the animated movie storyline and characters please
Hell's Angels '69 - could have a modern, SAMCRO, update; only SOA and Hell Ride (not counting Wild Hogs) in this genre since the late 70s [except the rather good Stone Cold]. The rich-boys plan a heist with some nefarious types to take the fall is a decent modern storyline, even if biker culture is now more weekend-warrior stock brokers than scary counter culturists.

Fast and the Furious - ruined by the franchising. Rob Cohen's commentary on the original film is really excellent; describing how the film is a modern day western, and that he was careful that Vin Diesel shouldn't kill anyone to preserve his anti-hero-with-a-heart back story sympathy. Now, he offs people at a rate that'd raise Roger Moore's other eyebrow. It's not so much that the latter films are bad per se; but after 5 (and not really counting 3rd) the story arc had run full circle. The remaining scripts should have been new characters and new brands - they are nothing about street racing anymore.

Disagree about The Railway Children.

E Nesbit was a very political writer. The story is about raising consciousness of class-priviliged kids and has a lot to say about asylum seekers.

Recommend the York Theatre Royal production filmed at the National Railway Museum with a real steam train to wave your knickers at, as shown periodically on Sky Arts.

The have remade Papillon which I'm worried about as it was bloody brilliant, can't imagine improving it.
