Taking 9 and 10 yr old dss to pictures tomorrow but can't decide which one to see. They both like older films, sat through all 3 of Lord of the Rings and loved them. Anyone recommend one or the other?

Haven't seen the village, although I want to, but I Robot is really good. I think ds's of that age may well like the sci fi robot action thing more.

As a grown up, I've seen both this week thanks to grannys kind babysitting!! Personally I was bored stupid through I robot, but liked the village a lot more, although it may go over kids heads re. the plot. If I was taking kids I would probably plump for I robot for a bit more action and good computer animation, although a little slow. Enjoy which ever you decide to see.

NOOOOO!!!! I, Robot is terrible (says an Isaac Asimov fan). It's just wrong. There was nothing like that in his stories. Argh!

I haven't seen The Village, but the commercials make it seem interesting?

Try Galaxy Quest (on dvd) for the kids.. it's really funny. My son loves it.

Thanks for that. I personally would see the Village. I love spooky films, the spookier the better, but I think probably I,robot would be better for the kids. I,Robot it will probably be then.

The Village would definitely appeal to me more, but if you take I Robot as a stand alone film, then it's pretty good imo, and the kids should like it more. I was watching an programme about the making of The Village a couple of days ago, and it looks great, but I got the impression it was a film that develops slowly, so less likely to hold interest for children.

Thanks Lou33. The kids were saying they think they will choose I, Robot as ALL and I mean ALL their friends have seen it except them! I will have to wait for the Village to come out on DVD unless I can get them to see it as well. There is no such thing as a babysitter in my life. Ah, never mind.
