Why are remakes so sexualised , footloose original vs remake

The otherweek I watched the remake of footloose ,I hadn't seen the first one .
Tonight I watched the original ..., I'm shocked , the original was more interesting and the second was just about the visual stimulation ..

I guess sex sells ...

Or that the original ones were also deemed equally sexualised; but the goalposts have moved so they look tame now

They remade Footloose. Christ.
