Went to a special preview tonight.

On my own.

Was awesome and funny and clever.

Totally recommended.

I love the first one. Really looking forward to see this one.

EmilyDickinson · 14/07/2018 10:22

I've just seen it too. I really enjoyed it, especially the sub plot about Helen going out to work and Bob becoming a stay at home dad and the struggles both have adjusting to this.

There was a very odd and rather disturbing little cartoon before it about a mother with a baby made of dough. The more I think about it the weirder it seems.

dontevenblink · 14/07/2018 10:32

Took my 4dc aged between 3 and 10 to see it in the week and they all really enjoyed it. I thought it was really good, lots of funny moments along with some action. Agree with pp about the plot about struggles of mum working and dad being at home was good. Definitely recommend.

The dumplings cartoon at the beginning was a bit bizarre, but I quite enjoyed it, seemed to be in the end all about a mum being sad that her son has grown up and not wanting anything to do with her anymore.

So do people who've seen this think it would be fine for my 4 and a half year old DGS?

sickmumma · 14/07/2018 18:42

My 4 year old daughter has recently got into the first one! I am looking forward to taking the children but am saving it for a school holiday treat! Glad to hear I would enjoy it too!!

EmilyDickinson · 14/07/2018 21:47

It's fast paced and very enjoyable but quite long.

EmilyDickinson · 14/07/2018 21:48

Two hours and five minutes.

MsJaneAusten · 14/07/2018 21:51

I saw it today with my three and six year olds. We all loved it.

Panicmode1 · 14/07/2018 21:55

We've just got back with our four DCs (14,13,10,8) and they all loved it, as did we.

However, surprisingly the 8 year old was a bit freaked out by one bit.... He's not usually sensitive but found the costume of a particular character "scary"....

MsJaneAusten · 14/07/2018 21:57

Yes, I pulled my three year old on my knee at that point. There wasn’t too much ‘tension’ though so I think it’s ok for younger kids.

Excitedbutrealistic · 15/07/2018 16:20

I liked it, but the weird short story at the start shouldn't have been there. The original short stories were funny, like the chess one. That was disturbing.

I think some of the speeches in it weren't necessary, there was a lot of talk between elastigirl and another female character that was a bit long winded and unnecessary for a kids film.

But other than that it was great, worth seeing.

MsAmerica · 17/07/2018 21:26

I'm in the minority on this, but I found it far inferior to the original. Full of nervous energy and hyper-active visuals, but short on cleverness. And surprisingly violent.

Cousinit · 19/07/2018 02:17

We really enjoyed it. It was very entertaining. It could be that I'm a bit hormonal but the short dumpling film had me in floods of tears. I found it very moving Blush

SchrodingersMeowth · 19/07/2018 02:30

I didn’t like it nearly as much as the first. Very loud!

Todamhottoday · 19/07/2018 02:36

I enjoyed the film (not seen the first one) but Holly Hunters voice (Helen) really grates on me, just really sets my teeth on edge, so she spoilt the film a little for me, bit random.......

But then I go and see every English language film I can (not in the UK)

OkPedro · 19/07/2018 02:42

I thought Helens voice was done by Jodi foster Blush
Also didn't understand the short film at the start
I didn't think the character making dumplings was a woman?!
I thought it was the older man's son Confused

gabsdot · 22/07/2018 16:48

I laughed my head off at the bit where to mum ate the dumping baby. My kids were hissing at me to shut up and stop embarrassing them, I laughed so much.
Incredibles was good although I dozed off a bit in the middle. I was so tired. It's not really suitable for young kids though. It's quite complicated and dialogy.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 02/08/2018 00:28

Was slightly disappointed by this. The first half of the film seemed to drag but it did pick up in the 2nd half - some good humour, especially from Edna - she needed more screen time. Enjoyed the short film, thought it was quite poignant.

Knackerelli · 20/08/2018 21:46

Saw it today, kids loved it. I thought it wasn’t as good as the original. Definitely needed more Edna! Dialogue heavy in an unnecessary way I thought and very few jokes.

The short film at the start was bizarre!

Jbck · 20/08/2018 21:55

Sobbed out loud at the short, was a bit taken aback Blush

Film was good but not great, not as much fun as the first one, did enjoy it though.

AngelsAckiz · 26/08/2018 20:59

Omg best film evah!

Couldn't love it enough!
