Can anyone think of positive, realistic or troubled adoption storylines that they have seen in the media ... it pops up every now and again (Sex and the City, Friends) but I wonder if you have seen any recently or have any thoughts about them.

Anne of Green Gables is a fab story of adoption working well. It's on Netflix.

Annie has a good pro-adoption storyline (the most recent one)

My children are adopted and so I'm always interested in how adoption is portrayed on TV and film. We have often used movies and TV to talk to our children about issues around their adoptions.
Some of our favourites were
Meet the Robinsons - Very moving tale about a child trying to remember his birth mother while hoping to be adopted, Very happy ending with proof that all kinds of families work
Despicable me 1 and 2 - Adoption is forever, you can't give the kids back
Finding Dory - Birth families never forget their children
Tangled - Same
Anne with a E

There are other movies that we haven't watched with the kids yet
Lion and Philomena for example
