I'm going to curl up this week and binge watch movies.
Looking for suggestions of your favourite love stories please?

50 first dates, love that film

MinaPaws · 14/04/2018 10:46

I adore:
Frankie and Johnny
Monsoon Wedding
White Palace
BBC version of Jane Austen's Persuasion
Colin Firth Pride & Prejudice (not Keira Knightley one)
Bright Star
Green Card
Groundhog Day

NapQueen · 14/04/2018 10:48

The Object of my Affection.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 14/04/2018 10:50

What's Up Doc

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 14/04/2018 10:53

Second Monsoon Wedding.

Music and Lyrics
Mississippi Masala
Tamara Drewe
Something’s Gotta Give is really funny.
Accidental Husband is a bit cheesy but good for Jeff Dean Morgan, Uma Thurman didn’t do so well in it.

So many!

Sevendown · 14/04/2018 11:03

The wedding singer
Gone with the wind

BookWorm37 · 14/04/2018 11:05

The English Patient and Wall-E!

covetingthepreciousthings · 15/04/2018 18:46

About Time, but I cry buckets every time I watch it Blush

Vitalogy · 15/04/2018 18:47

Have you had enough already of been loved up this weekend? SmileWell, if not here's a film:

The whole film is on YouTube if anyone likes the look of the trailer. Get those tissues ready Smile

Vitalogy · 15/04/2018 18:49

*the films called The Magic of Ordinary Days.

MillieMollieMandi · 15/04/2018 18:53

Before Sunrise / Sunset. I love those movies!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/04/2018 18:53

Brief Encounter
The Third Man
The Maltese Falcon
The Philadelphia Story
It's A Wonderful Life
His Girl Friday (the one with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell)
Some Like It Hot
Kind Hearts and Coronets

I like classic films, humour and noir. All of the above have love stories at their heart but are not saccharine stuff. Not a single one of them has a conventional happy ending. Hence possibly not what you are looking for this weekend, but maybe another time?

Bridges of Madison County

Vitalogy · 15/04/2018 19:08

Has anyone seen Suite Francaise and Silence of the Sea (French sub)? Flipping heck, brilliant!

annandale · 15/04/2018 19:16

I must say I don't think Kind Hearts and Coronets is romantic...

The Big Easy
Hannah and her Sisters
West Side Story

QuentinSummers · 15/04/2018 19:16

Lala land

Notonthestairs · 15/04/2018 19:23

The Way We Were,
Now Voyager,
Philadelphia Story.
While You Were Sleeping,
When Harry Met Sally.
Recently it watched The Proposal and developed a crush on Ryan Reynolds. Blush

Big fat yes toBBC version of Persuasion.
And His Girl Friday is on tv during the day on Thursday- worth recording.

ItsASairFecht · 15/04/2018 19:25

Cat on A Hot Tin Roof is fantastic, a classic..and Paul Newman/Liz Taylor are smoking hot in it.

Vitalogy · 15/04/2018 19:26

I love the period dramas but that kiss in Persuasion was over the top, the build up!

JAPAB · 22/04/2018 21:27

You might like Serendipity.
