I like classic films, humour and noir. All of the above have love stories at their heart but are not saccharine stuff. Not a single one of them has a conventional happy ending. Hence possibly not what you are looking for this weekend, but maybe another time?

Big fat yes toBBC version of Persuasion.
And His Girl Friday is on tv during the day on Thursday- worth recording.

Cat on A Hot Tin Roof is fantastic, a classic..and Paul Newman/Liz Taylor are smoking hot in it.

I love the period dramas but that kiss in Persuasion was over the top, the build up!
