I feel bad about saying this about what is so obviously a worthy film but I found it a bit saccharine and trite

I actually didn't find it as cloying as I thought - that's a bit like damning it with faint praise . I thought it would be very trite and heavy handed but it was a bit better than I had expected. My 10 year old absolutely loved it and I do like Julia Roberts.

I haven’t seen the film but have read the book with both my children. I do hope to see it as we loved the book.
