Who's Feed~Up With Rotten Movie Sound?

I truly want readers to go in hard on this post's comments. I'm simply livid about the poor magnitude of the latest Star Wars film's sound. Seriously, how can you have a science-fiction action movie without a colossal sound design? I just don't get it!

Maybe I'm simply taking things a bit too far because I'm a professional sound engineer myself however, none of the originality of custom crafted sound design, like Ben Burt's were present in the Star Wars SiFi epic.

Truly, I'm sitting in the theater with my entire family generation [show humor here] and to my grieving disappointment, you could literally hear a mouse pi$$ on cotton, it was that freaking quiet. For a moment, I said to myself "maybe I should ask if they can turn up the volume in the theater." That's when reality sat in "this is the way it is." Now, after seeing Star Wars in 3D, the same opinions stand fast. The sound design was poorly executed.

So, I now turn things over to the many readers, and those which will comment in response to this post... What are your feelings about movie sound design? Name films that had epic sound designs. Name films that would have been absolutely awesome but, lacked the augmented sound design, music, and sonic creativity.

In conclusion, pull no punches, hold no hidden comments, and remember... Someone has to tell things just the way it is, no matter how grimy it might be.

Cheers

Shrugs.

Never noticed.

This reads like a survey.

I hate films with 'colossal sound design', every film I see seems to have deafeningly loud music and special effects and yet inaudible dialogue. So yes, I am fed up with rotten movie sound but for entirely different reasons.
