We've just been to see this and i really recommend it. Funny touching and exciting- fantastic soundtrack too. Has anyone else seen it? What did you think?

I saw this too. I don't really know what to think. The characters were unoriginal and the romance implausible, yet I can't say the 2 hours didn't fly by. I can't believe I am even saying this about a film, but it would have been much improved by a grauitous sex scene. The romance was like one between 2 14 year olds. They needed some raw animal attraction to make the plot vaguely believeable.

I thought it wasn't bad, but nothing to get excited about. It's very skilled filmmaking, and at times very clever visually, but it's short on character, and I don't see the appeal of Elgort, who was very bland.

What age would you recommend it for? I'm wondering if I could take my nearly 11 year old DS?

Er no I would not take a nearly 11 year old. Baby Driver has a 15 rating and that rating is there for a reason. It is horribly violent and has lots of swearing etc. No way is it suitable for a 10 year old.

How would you get your nearly 11 year old in? It has a 15 rating. Does your kid look especially mature?

It's definitely not appropriate for the pre-teen audience.

Wtf happened when they all go to meet about the new job and ends up in a shoot out. I remember waking up and them quizzing baby about his tapes and then go on the post office

I can't remember what you missed - and I saw the film last night.

Hmm. I wanted it to be better. It was just too linear I think - not clever enough. Kevin Spacey was wasted tbh.

The whole thing seemed very pleased with itself. Not helped by the directors intro piece at the beginning 'get ready for the ride of your life.' Yup, think I'll be the judge of that, thank you.

There were some stylish set pieces and parts were very watchable but it did descend into a Liam Neeson/Bruce Willis type of relentless action farce towards the end.

I got the feeling the title was thought of first - it's such a great title, and such a cool song. Actually perhaps that was the problem. The story couldn't match up.

And I can't believe not one person, (in all the music/song title discussions) sang Baby Driver to Ansel Elgort. (You're a driver? Called Baby?! C'mon!)

Was OK, not half as good as the reviewers say though.
Some of the filming was wonderful - the scene in the laundrette, with the camera going round and round the actors, also the scene at the beginning, where he's getting the coffee and going back.
But it was way way too long. The last bit, where Spacey, faced with the love of the protagonists, turns into a softie, is total bollocks (I wonder if, as the major star, he had his character tweaked). And John Hamm turning into the Terminator - one minute he's in a car, that's fallen several stories, landed upside down, and burst into flames, and literally the next second he's standing next to the hero. I love John Hamm beyond all reason, but he just didn't fit in the film either.
I thought Kevin Spacey's nephew was great. There was a lot to enjoy, but it could have been so much better.

I agree with all the critical reviews. Saw it tonight with a friend and felt a bit embarrassed I'd invited her, tbh. Loved the music and the cinematography but it was a bang-bang car chase fest with a token pretty girl and an increasingly ludicrous plot.
Kevin Spacey's metamorphosis into a teddy bear was totally unconvincing. And giving John Hamm tattoos and a shaven haircut doesn't make him a hard man. Lily James's accent was convincing and the early scenes between the two were sweet but ultimately she was just decoration.

nikibabe I saw the scene in the middle, and still have no idea why everybody started shooting. Because I couldn't understand what the Jamie Foxx character was saying most of the time.

Because he recognised/was recognised by a cop who'd put him away in the past.

Wasn't that the whole point. He was the good guy. A bit on the innocent side even though he was a getaway driver. It wasn't his choice.

I agree - I appreciated the lack of gratuitous sex scenes, it's rare even in 15 certificate films.
