Just curious if I'm likely to enjoy if a HP fan.

Worlds biggest potter fan here..
It's a good film, it's different to the potter movies, less intense with a bit more humour? Not dying to watch it again..

QueenMortificado · 08/03/2017 22:47

I thought it was utter crap. Not enough storyline to stand alone but not enough HP to be part of it and Eddie Redmayne is as wet as a paper bag.

Cheerybigbottom · 08/03/2017 22:56

Me and a similarly HP mad friend went to see it, it was absolute rubbish.

EasterRobin · 08/03/2017 23:04

Would recommend to HP fans and people who enjoy special effects. I had a fab time watching it.

GirlElephant · 08/03/2017 23:04

I love HP & thought it was great

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 08/03/2017 23:10

Massive Potter fans here and we all thought FB was a better movie. Interesting to see such varied opinions

ScarlettFreestone · 08/03/2017 23:12

I thought it was wonderful, much better than several of the HP films.

The kids loved it.

Sgtmajormummy · 08/03/2017 23:20

I've been living the Harry Potter life for the last 12 years - finished reading the Deathly Hallows to DC2 at Christmas and moved straight on to that piece of drivel The Cursed Child. What a waste of paper...

Anyway DD and I saw Fantastic Beasts and really enjoyed it. The period setting was well done with great effects and costumes, the magic was alternately playful and disturbing, and there were just enough references to the main series to raise a few ripples of recognition in the audience.

It's obviously setting the scene for more money-spinning films in the series (no spoilers from me!), Eddie Redmayne is endearingly foppish and I enjoyed Colin Farrell doing a good "wand whip" as the head of magical law enforcement.

We'll be getting it on DVD, no doubt.

conkerpods · 08/03/2017 23:21

We all thought it was crap, kids were bored as was I.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 08/03/2017 23:26

We all loved it (family of 4 - varying levels of HP fandom ). Why is there no cuddly Niffler? Why?!?!?

madamginger · 08/03/2017 23:38

Massive HP fans here and I thought it was a load of shite.
Won't bother watching it again.

Joffmognum · 09/03/2017 11:07

No. Its not worth buying the DVD. I saw it in the cinema - waste of £9

I love the HP books, but think the films are a bit rubbish. Really really liked Fantastic Beasts film

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 09/03/2017 11:14

I love HP, and I loved it. My equally HP adoring friends and DD enjoyed it too...

I'll probably rent for £3.99 off ITunes or something or borrow someone else's DVD.

me and OH watched it.. well when I say we watched it he fell asleep about 20 min into the film and said it was crap, only watched the first half because we ended up going to bed. we both really enjoyed HP film, so I need to watch the 2nd half but what I did watch I thought it was ok.

March01 · 24/03/2017 15:23

Watching it now. Boring.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 21/04/2017 12:34

Big HP fan and I really enjoyed it, despite not being able to stand Eddie Redmayne. I hate his face and think he's a rubbish actor and I was proven correct. Colin Farrell, however, is great in it and I really like his face so that made up for ER

Gorgeous costumes and sets, weak plot but overall good fun
