Hi :) I am planning a Year 6 sleepover for around 30 children. They will be 10 and 11 and a mix of boys and girls. I don't want Harry Potter as they don't all like that same as Star Wars. Also would prefer a film rather than Disney cartoon. Cant be higher than a PG certificate and preferably relatively old so they may not have seen it!
I am really stuck...what would you suggest please??

Princess bride :)

Loads of these suggestions are not PG. The goonies is really quite rude in places and there's a dead body (but it is my all time favourite 80s movie)

I think "near rape" is over egging it as a description of the car scene in BttFuture

I think you should look at true PGs:

The Princess Bride
Spiderwick
The Last Mimzy
Stardust
Explorers
Flight of the Navigator
The Boy who could Fly
Space Camp

I can't believe you're getting suggestions like Divergent! I wouldn't be at all impressed if my 10YO was shown divergent at someone else's house.

The Sandlot
The Goonies

Is Never Ending Story too old school?

Newtssuitcase · 28/02/2017 08:36

Mine love the never ending story. Both the film (which is ok IMO but dated) and particularly the audiobook which is VERY long. It kept us going for weeks on our long school run

I have a feeling that the Goonies is a 12 - was going to get it to show the DC but was surprised by the rating so didn't and still haven't got it.

G-force is fun and often overlooked for this age group.

I haven't seen recently but vaguely remember the witch mountain series of films from when I was younger - think they would be good for this age group

The most recent asterix film was good (asterix and the mansions of the gods?) and although it is a cartoon it's not disneyish.

DC also love the Double Deckers - dh bought the DVDs as he remembered them from his childhood. Very 60s/70s but fun.

Skyhigh is a great suggestion. Its cool enough that the kids will like it but a very clear PG which will mean that you won't upset any parents.
