It was very good, I loved it and so did the kids, DS and DD1 didn't cry but dd2 was in tears when Charlotte died near the end, even DH had to hold back the tears. Anyone thinking about this film should see it, but if you have a sentisive child (like dd2) you may want to prepare them for the ending. dd2 wants to know why mummy spiders die, because mummies don't die...

oh thats sad!!!

is DS too young..he is 4?

We saw it yesterday, and my dds loved it (6&7) as did I.
Definitely need to prepare sensitive/very young children for Charlottes death, but a lovely film, and mine found most of it funny

we saw it first at the theatre

dd was very upset that they wouldn't be back to bow at the end

it was much easier dealing with the whole death of Charlotte thing when you could point out she was an actor who'd be back later for a good bow

I really didn't like the film - but I was ill at the time so it could be completely subjective - I remember the cartoon from when I was young - that was much better.

I read ds the book earlier this year and cried then so am not compeltely heartless!

My ds (6) was very upset and about three had to be taken out of the cinema. There were lots of mums (yes myself included) who were obviously tearful too.

I did think it was a good film but thought it was too much for a lot of little ones and probably wouldn't recommend it without giving a large warning too.

SparklyGothKat · 15/02/2007 09:02

mine also found it funny, it was just when charlotte died that DD2 found hard.

Oh dear! Dd wants to go and see this for her birthday. I still remember having to rewind the video of 'The Snowman' because she sobbed so much when he melted ("look darling, he's ok again now"). She won't thank me if I spoil the end of the film by warning her though will she?

MegaLegs · 15/02/2007 20:45

I think my boys would just be mortified at the sight of me sobbing. I cry at every children's film we ever see
