Bridget Jones film - can I take my 13-yr-old to see it?

We want to go as a family but as it's a 15 certificate film my 13-year-old DS is "too young". Is it OK to take him anyway (ie will they let him in)

So no, you can't take her in. When it's on DVD then she can watch it but please don't put some minimum wage worker's job at risk just because you want her to see it.

No, it really is a 15. It's a great adult film.

No, they have to be 15 to get it. It is 12A where under 12s can see the film with an adult. There is no equivalent for a 15 film

I went to see this with my friend and her 13 year old and I thought it was much too adult for a young teen.

And I say that as someone who used to work in a cinema - colleague asked child/parents how old the child was, they said 15, so staff member let them in. Turned out they were 14, management found out and staff member was sacked

I went to see it tonight but got turned away by the manager as I had my 5 month old baby with me in a sling. I got told that he wasn't old enough to see it 😂

I saw it last weekend and I am quite surprised that it's a 15. It's very mild.

But it's true that you just won't get in.

Our local cinemas are really strict this year. Dd is 14 as are many of her friends. There seems to have been a massive crack down and, despite them all looking older, none of her friends have been admitted into 15 films regardless of who they've been with.

The cinemas can get into a lot of bother if they are caught.

My local cinema would probably let him in as they're really lax about that kind of thing. But I do think it's rated appropriately at 15+. I wouldn't have a problem with my 13-year-old seeing it, but it is more of an adult film.

Unofficially - You can probably get away with it if he looks older than he is & you don't mind paying an adult ticket price for him. You pay for the tickets while he gets snacks, or goes to the loo or something, that way you avoid the staff asking for his ID. If he looks old enough, then its very unlikely they will question it when entering the screen for the actual film, though there is a risk of losing your money if you do get stopped

We did this with taking nearly 14yo DD to see Deadpool & had no problems

I did consider taking my 13 year old, but on seeing it was relieved I hadn't. She would have been a bit uncomfortable with some of it. Not sure if the ads are all the same beforehand, but the ad for a sex toy before the screening would have been enough to send her running!

It's a good film IMO but has references to sex, drugs, three-ways, lots of swearing and innuendo.

Rockinhippy- that's what some of dd's friends tried with parents recently. But they've been stopped and not allowed in. Some managed to get exchanged tickets for an alternative film, a couple just lost their money.

However, as said before, think our two big cinemas have had a massive clamp down as they are stopping and asking everyone for ID who is in that kind of age range. Even those at 15 aren't getting in without id and these are irks who do look over 15 easily.
