And it's brilliant. At turns funny and sad, it's a poignant portrayal of family loyalty and love that is unspoken but nevertheless there. A taciturn old man is determined to travel to Nebraska to claim his million-dollar "prize" from a mail scam, and his son reluctantly agrees to drive him from his home in Montana. Beautifully shot in black and white, it is understated but moving, and full of wry comedy about the frustrations of relationships and dreams put aside.
If you enjoy films that are a bit quirky, and appreciate a story based more on characters than plot, then this one is near-perfect. Recommended.
