I saw the last hour and was gripped by it but haven't read "Mrs Dalloway" so couldn't really fathom what it was really about.

Worth renting the film as you need to understand the 3 women it is following. I was riveted too. You don't need to have read the book. I don't wish to spoil it so definitely go and rent it.

3 strands.

one is virginia woolfe (fake nose nicole) writing mrs dalloway and in throws of big depression

one is julianne moore, dying slowly as housewife in suburban 50s america and finding solace in reading mrs dalloway

one is meryl streep friend of hiv positive mad artist and throwing him big party (she is modern day mrs dalloway)

it is an unutterably gorgeous film and really really worth buying on dvd imo.

I haven't read it either and I loved the film.Have bought the book ,mrs dalloway, but haven't read it yet.

It's about 3 women from different eras

1.virginia woolf when writing mrs dalloway and going a bit mad

2.wife in post war london reading the book and realising her life is shit

3.meryl streeps character living the life of mrs dalloway in NY and is in love with dying friend.

it's a bit confusing but enthralling all the same

I saw it tonight, too, and thought it was wonderful. Such a treat to see a film aimed at grown-ups.

No, but I read the book.

Arse! I forgot it was on, I really wanted to watch it. I was rivetted to Alan Rickman in big black boots on Channel 4.[drool emoticon]
