Looking for movies, preferably with a Xmas theme to appeal to the boys. I'm thinking perhaps Disney, that Muppets one(what was it called?), The Snowman, Happy Feet type stuff. Religious content is also fine such as a age-appropriate telling of the Nativity story. My memory for movies, esp their titles, is rubbish! Thanks

do you mean cinema or dvd?

Have not been to cinema lately, but got 'polar express' out last week for my children (7&4) and they both loved it. I found it okay too!

laneydaye · 21/12/2006 11:39

on at the cinema at the mo is
happy feet
washed away
and that 1 about the museumthink its night at the museum!!

tissy · 21/12/2006 11:40

Polar Express is great, but I was disappointed with Happy Feet; the plot was very thin, extremely flat ending!

Thanks! Am bumping this, to be honest! I was thinking DVDs because my 2 have the attention span of tarmac- if the film doesn't grab them! So a DVD is a smaller commitment than a family ticket to a cinema!

nightmare before christmas? miracle on 34th street is my fave. theres also the santa clause?

MrsMuddle · 21/12/2006 19:42

Mine loved The Grinch at that age. In fact, they still do, and they're 10 & 11.

Steppy1 · 21/12/2006 19:44

SilverBells · 21/12/2006 19:46

another vote for polar express, my ds (4) and dd (3) loved it, as did my dh, (36)... it really is a magical christmassy film...

asleep · 21/12/2006 19:46

DD (in fact all of us) loved the grinch. it's on tv on christmas day.

Ceolas · 21/12/2006 19:48

Sorry to hijack, but I have got Polar Express to watch with my lot (6,5 and 3) tomorrow evening.

Reassure me there's nothing scary in it? DD1 (6) is a complete wimp with films!

SilverBells · 21/12/2006 19:49

i don't think there's anything scary, but couldn't swear to it, we saw it last year. we too have it taped off sky to watch on christmas eve..

Kbear · 21/12/2006 19:50

LOVE the Polar Express. We snuggled up the other afternoon to watch it.

We have The Snowman and The Bear. Muppets Christmas Carol, Mickey's Christmas, Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer, Mole's Christmas.

We like a Christmas movie we do!

jud2905 · 21/12/2006 19:51

polar express
santa clause 2
miracle on 34th street

all fab films - dont you just love christmas

DimpledThighs · 21/12/2006 19:59

the wizard of oz - even though not a christmas film it feels christmassy to me.

there's one called elf about one of santas elves coming to live in New York - also I think home alone is set at christmas, but both might be a bit old for yours.

I know there is a disney christmas carol. are you planning to buy or rent? rental is less of a commitment - if you are buying it has to be the snowman or the polar express!

jellybeans · 22/12/2006 22:59

I recommend these.....

Elf (REALLY funny)
Search For Santa
Rudolph in the land of Toys
Santa clause
Polar Express
To grandmothers house we go
