Danish Girl- what did you think?

I know there's an Eddie Redmayne thread already but I had wanted to know what people thought of the film. I saw it last night and just couldn't get past that it was Eddie Redmayne IYKWIM. I did think the actress that played Gerda was fab though and she carried the film for me.

Just back from the cinema. What a moving and disturbing film.

I agree that Gerda was beautifully acted. I think she was the lynchpin of the film- she loved her husband so much she sacrificed her own desires and aspirations for him to be happy- knowing it would mean she would lose him.

Makes me feel bad at moaning at DH for biting his nails....

Except Alicia Vicander is nominated for supporting actress and Eddie Redmayne for main.

Why?

Beautiful looking film but again, I couldn't get past thinking it was Eddie Redmayne in a dress.
