Hi everyone,

If you've popped into Mumsnet Films lately, you may have noticed our five star rating system appear on some threads. It's a new thing we're rolling out for Mumsnet Films and we wanted to ask what you think about it, how it functions and if it's useful for those cinema/duvet days when you have no idea what to watch.

You can now rate any of the movies in Mumsnet Films by following the link to join the discussion in any of the titles featured. Once you're on the thread a purple pop up inviting you to rate the film will arrive in the bottom left corner of your screen.

When you've selected the number of stars you'd like to award the film and clicked on the return key, your rating value will be added to the average already awarded to the film and displayed at the top of the thread just under the title.

It's early days and the whole thing is quite basic so you may spot a few tweaks here and there over the coming weeks.

Please go to Mumsnet Films , take a look and come back and post any thoughts you have below.

We'll then randomly select a post and one lucky winner will receive a goody bag of DVDs from MNHQ.

Thank you all and good luck.

@VoyageOfDad

Followed your link, clicked on 'Top Family Films' , selected one thinking there'd be a thread or review on it, and was just sent off to Amazon. In fact clicking on any title in that section sent me to Amazon... with no warning.

It was a commercial link masquerading as a thread.

I don't want to be sent to Amazon.

Hiya VoyageOfDad Thanks so much for pointing this out. We should have specified it's films featured as stand alone titles. So you can only review individual films on Talk threads. Our bad. You visited one of the three blocks at the bottom of the Mumsnet Film page where we mention collections of films. Flowers

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for all your comments and suggestions. It's very early days on this, so our apologies if you find the system clunky or frustrating, we are planning to review and tweak over the coming weeks.

Because Talk Film threads are started about any film subject, not just one film, spotting threads where we can apply our rating system to is difficult. At the moment we've managed to earmark appropriate threads by having the rating system originate from the films featured in Mumsnet Films page

TrionicLettuce We are looking at having the option to rate a film being flagged in some way in the thread title, so easily spotted amongst the list of threads in the Talk Film section.

MrsToddsShortcut We're so sorry that your star rating of Crimson Peak went wrong. Argh! We can't fix it Flowers but we will be revising the rating mechanism to give Mumsnetters a chance to be sure of any rating before submitting a score.

Please keep coming back and telling us what you think, we'd really like to iron out all the glitches and very much appreciate your help in doing this.

Hi everyone,

Many thanks for all your thoughts so far on the new film rating system, it's still a work in progress! We've just tweaked a few bits and bobs which we hope will be a positive addition, although we've already spotted a few snags so please do bear with us while we fix them.
We'd welcome your thoughts on how you see the system eventually working at it's best and appreciate any comments you may have. Flowers
