You are right op, loads of good films. We used to watch them in local arts centre. Not too expensive.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Restless Natives, score by Big Country, love it.

Local Hero is the best though.

Most of these films were funded at least in art by Channel 4 when it first started, definitely the Merchant Ivory ones they also did My Beautiful Laundrette & the one a out Christy Brown . Huge number of fantastic films & real renaissance in British cinema
