Ok, here are films I've really enjoyed, some recently and some that have stuck in my mind from a while back because I thought they were so good:

Inception
Interstellar
The prestige
Gravity
Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind
Cloud atlas
Theory of everything
Being John Malkevich
Catch me if you can
The Hudsucker proxy

What else might I like??

Based on liking Being John Malkovitch - have you seen Run Lola Run?

noblegiraffe · 01/06/2015 18:00

If you like Christopher Nolan, what about Memento?

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 01/06/2015 18:10

If you like The Hudsucker Proxy have you watched any other Coen Brothers films - Barton Fink, Fargo, no country for old men?

GloGirl · 01/06/2015 18:21

The Butterfly Effect

iwouldgoouttonight · 01/06/2015 18:39

Ooh Thanks, good suggestions!

I've seen (and enjoyed) the butterfly effect and memento, should have put them in my original list! I've not actual seen maybe coen brothers films, i liked O brother where art thou, and raising arizona (was that them?) I'll give those a try. I've not heard of run lola run, I'll look that up too. Also Adaptation - another Charlie Kaufman written one

Takver · 01/06/2015 18:56

Have you seen Little Miss Sunshine and I heart Huckabees? If so, did you like them (trying to think of more ideas in the Eternal Sunshine/Being JM spectrum)?

I hate the Coen brothers films, though Grin

fourchetteoff · 01/06/2015 18:59

From that list - how about Limitless or Looper?

Orangeisthenewbanana · 01/06/2015 19:00

The Usual Suspects
Shutter Island
Fargo is very good

fourchetteoff · 01/06/2015 19:03

YY shutter Island. Book is good too. If you want to go down that route then Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River are also good (same author)

Takver · 01/06/2015 19:04

The Gnod film map thing-y isn't as good as the books one, but still worth playing with, too.

LadyDeadpool · 01/06/2015 19:17

One hour photo it's a brilliant performance by Robin Williams and really unsettling.

Cancookdontcook · 01/06/2015 19:19

The Truman Show?

Contact

Based on your list: Source Code

iwouldgoouttonight · 01/06/2015 19:42

I loved source code, I'd forgotten about that. Liked Contact and limitless too.

Is shutter Island scary? For some reason I've always thought it'd be too scary for me.

I think I'm the only person in the world who felt a bit meh about the usual suspects. I only watched it recently and DP had built it up so much as The Best Film Ever I think I was always going to be disappointed.

I'll look up the others, lots of ideas thank you.

Imitation Game
Ex Machina
Based on Eternal sunshine, maybe Juno and Garden State

GoingToBedfordshire · 01/06/2015 21:09

I would also say Coen brothers films, try Blood Simple and Barton Fink.
Would also recommend Moon, American Beauty and Requiem for a Dream.

CleverPlansAndSecretTricks · 03/06/2015 21:47

Shutter island is not too scary. I'm quite a wuss and I enjoyed it.

CleverPlansAndSecretTricks · 03/06/2015 21:50

I think you might like Ruby Sparks
