Sadly, this also makes me too old to make proper use of any of the current Avengers

But I still have eyes and a smutty mind . And I maintain that as it is an ensemble movie it would be wrong to pick just one. They're a team, right? "How do we do this?" "Together!" You know it makes sense.

So - if in the story a lovely Mummy from the UK gets superpowers, and she gets recruited by SHIELD - then I think the only romantically available characters are Loki and Capt America. The others have significant others don't they?

Black Widow does not prefer Hawkeye. They are friends. This is artistically correct as well as convenient.
