I can't help but judge people who say their favourite film is 'Love Actually'.
At Christmas a friend was trying to convince me how romantic and touching it was and that the Colin Firth/Portuguese housekeeper scenario was so amusing and poignant.
I was sitting there like
, thinking has the Tia Maria fried your brain cells... I actually couldn't help picking holes in the saccharine, simplistic, nonsensical, paint-by-numbers plotting and characterisation. And then just felt like the biggest Scrooge Bah Humbug person on Earth, ruining friend's favourite Christmas film which is the biggest pile of shite ever in the history of film making... I mean I bet even Richard Curtis judges people who love this film
However, I once took another friend who is a bit of an intellectual to see Hugh Jackman in 'Les Miserables'. I was all starry eyed and tearful at the finish [in a good way] whilst she was looking at me like this
and saying okay, well that was, um, a bit of an emotional journey two hours wasted of my life I will never get back
So what film do others judge you for loving and which do you judge others for?
