I think the actual title was "Edge of Tomorrow"
Was expecting to hate it but actually I enjoyed quite a lot.
I haven't seen Emily Blunt do anything I didn't like though.

All shot in UK I think and the aliens were people in green suits - which must have been HARD.

But VERY interesting concept

Your thoughts?

Though I didn't like that they refer to her as the Full Jacket Bitch.

I really liked this film. Like you wasn't expecting to. They have rebranded it a bit, with a different title for the dvd release.

I think everyone was getting the Cruisers other SciFi film mixed up with this one. Oblivion isn't as good as this one.

I would recommend it!

Saw it, loved it. Would watch again. Great chemistry between the leads and enough of a plot and good enough acting to make me forget that I was watching a Cruise Action Movie.

MadameOvary · 08/01/2015 17:47

YY Oblivion was meh.

Isabeller · 08/01/2015 17:51

I really liked this movie (even though there are a couple of teeny plot holes). Really really. Did you like The Adjustment Bureau?

I thought it was Full Metal Bitch? No better I know.

GoEasyPudding · 08/01/2015 17:52

Also in both films Cruise is confused and wearing a grey future suit. I saw the trailers at some point but my mind made them the same film.

Edge of tomorrow/Live, Die, Repeat is super funny too!

GoEasyPudding · 08/01/2015 17:55

The use of the word "bitch" is an interesting one. I just saw the last Harry Potter film and that word is used by one woman whilst killing the baddie played by Helena Bonham Carter.

I thought steady on there! There's plenty of male baddies to be told off here and the language is tempered.

LadyPeterWimsey · 08/01/2015 18:27

DS and I thought it was excellent when we saw it at the cinema but DH was less convinced when we showed it to him at home. I don't usually enjoy Cruise but he played cocky and irritating rather well, and I have a girl crush on Emily Blunt who was a pretty convincing acting heroine. And it was funny! I like my action films leavened with lots of humour.

merrymouse · 24/01/2015 18:15

Made me want to watch Groundhog Day again.

ImBatDog · 28/01/2015 17:05

i really enjoyed it, i wasn't expecting too either! lol.

AlpacaPicnic · 28/01/2015 20:56

I enjoyed it much more than I was expecting to. And I did find it very funny in places!

EduCated · 28/01/2015 21:18

I went to see it at the cinema with DP and knew nothing about it/hadn't seen a trailer. Really enjoyed it, even though it's not really my type of thing. At the first sign of the twist I genuinely thought it was a technical fault Grin

Methe · 21/03/2015 12:00

Just bumping this as It's on sky movies now and I watched it with Dh last night and really really enjoyed it!

I don't recall ever having seen a trailer for. It and we go to the theatre fairly frequently. .. I wonder how it passed me by.

Definitely worth a watch..

truthwithin · 21/03/2015 21:31

Not a big Cruise fan but really enjoyed this

tribpot · 21/03/2015 21:45

I just saw the last Harry Potter film and that word is used by one woman whilst killing the baddie played by Helena Bonham Carter.

In fairness HBC has just been taunting her about the death of her son, which happened about ten minutes previously. I take your point, though - there was plenty of taunting and no-one else got called something randomly insulting.

TwinkleThis · 22/03/2015 09:18

Terminator meets Groundhog Day. What's not to like?

You know why I finally succumbed and watched this?

--it wasn't because of the bland title
--it wasn't because of Cruise or Blunt (who were both terrific)
--it wasn't because I adore these types of movies

It was actually because Graham Norton raved about it on his show, in a genuine way, and I thought 'whey hey, if Graham liked it...!' Ha.
