i knew nothing about this before I went. and tbh i DO NOT get what the big deal is.
the story is so slow to get started, there is no chemistry between the main lead, the costume has ONE idea that seems to go on and on ( get htat woman a button fgs) and the plot seems desparately shoved on at the end to justify the whole boring film

I think the over the place feeling was from the fact that a lot of it was improvised I can see now where there were rambling scenes it probably came from that.

Amy Adams was great I thought but confused at her no nudity clause as we definitely saw parts of her I would have thought I'd want preserved if I had a no nudity clause.

I'm still referring to microwaves as science ovens Grin and laughing at remembering Christian bale whining that his mrs has blown up the oven carmine bought for him.

DrNick · 20/01/2014 10:15

but the story was so BORING!

If nothing else, DP now knows how to master the comb over when if he goes bald.

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 20/01/2014 10:20

I didn't find the story boring. I was fascinated to see how Bale and/or Adams were going to get out of their situation without going to jail and/or getting bumped off by the Mafia.

Figster · 20/01/2014 10:31

I seriously thought they were going to get killed too I had this rising dread as soon as De Niro appeared. Maybe the happy ending was a bit too "all tied up in a bow".

Kemmo · 20/01/2014 10:34

I bloody loved it :)

Best film I've seen for ages. Witty Stylish and very very funny IMO.

I really like to see a film doing well at the awards that isn't a miserable epic historical drama.

noddyholder · 20/01/2014 10:37

I didn't find it boring but then I did recognise some of the characters from my past which is prob why I loved tbh. I did hang out with some chancers at a certain point and lived in nightclubs/drugs scenario SO far removed from my life now Grin

I thought it was disappointing, and spent too much of it wondering if that really was Christian Bale's actual stomach or a really good fake (esp after seeing him in Batman recently - the difference!!!)

It was mildly amusing at points, but far too long. Zzzzz.

KatoPotato · 20/01/2014 10:50

I really enjoyed it. Thought it was fantastic.

Wolf however was tedious and hard-going. Watching a detestable character getting up to 'oh so debauched' activities is just onerous.

The ad-libbed scenes are also terrible and go on for far too long without being funny or necessary.

I loved American Hustle. Really enjoyed the story, some great performances and the soundtrack was brilliant.

noddyholder · 21/01/2014 22:51

Dallas Buyers brilliant best film in years. Wolf of Wall St really disappointed like a lads mag come to life

Loved it, though the tits dress got a bit meh.
