Not sure she's actually seen many (apart from the Star Trek reboots) ... what would be your top picks for this age group please?

All I can add is don't bother looking out Logan's Run - I raved about it to DH, finally got it on Lovefilm . . . and it is utter, utter shite Grin

I assume she's seen all the Back to the Future and Star Wars films?

oscarwilde · 13/12/2013 16:19

ET ? Smile
Men in Black

not a sci-fi fan
The Matrix - is that suitable?
A Space Odyssey
The Terminator series
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Mad Max
The Fly
Frankenstein
Apollo 13
Flight of the Navigator
Journey to the Centre of the Earth
Planet of the Apes
Any James Bond film from the 60's.... Grin

She's seen Star Wars IV-VI and both Men in Black a while ago. And The Matrix not too long ago, quite liked it.

Will look at those links later - thanks!

The Fifth Element

LondonMother · 13/12/2013 22:57

Minority Report. Also, I know it's not really science fiction but I saw it first at an all night sci fi film screening - Dr Strangelove. One of the best films ever made.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/12/2013 23:20

Any James Bond film from the 60's...

Oddly enough, James Bond cropped up when we were talking this evening - how long he'd been around and different actors - so she concluded he's actually a Time Lord Grin.

Some great ideas, thanks all!

I forgot one of the best: MArs Attacks!

LondonMother · 14/12/2013 10:32

Galaxy Quest! That's a good laugh. It has Alan Rickman in a comedy role too.

WithaPickleOnTop · 25/12/2013 13:27

Starship troopers is fun.
Stargate Atlantis the Tv series.

chemenger · 25/12/2013 13:31

Silent running, funny and sad at the end.

LumpySpacePrincessOhMyGlob · 25/12/2013 14:22

Serenity and another vote for Galactica.

CoteDAzur · 25/12/2013 14:28

Keeping in mind she's 14:

2001: A Space Odyssey
Total Recall (the original, with Arnold Schwarzenegger)
Gattaca
Fifth Element
Minority Report
Dark City (really good film)
Avatar
Gravity (must see it in a 3D theatre)

AnUnearthlyChild · 25/12/2013 14:47

Star Wars episodes 4 -6 are a must.

Glad you say they've seen it.

TerrariaMum · 25/12/2013 14:47

I know more about sci-fi television so will list those in case she feels episodic:

Firefly
Farscape
Star Trek: The Next Generation
The X-Files (though it has started to look dated)
Red Dwarf

that's all off the top of my head.

GingerPCatt · 25/12/2013 14:47

Enthiran
It's a brilliant sci fi Bollywood film. Robots, great fight scenes, and totally nonsensical dance numbers. It's subtitled.

DandyDan · 28/12/2013 11:34

Event Horizon
Sunshine
12 Monkeys
AI

ErrolTheDragon · 07/01/2014 21:36

Thanks all. Thanks

Now I've just got to choose a couple from all those for her birthday next month... Smile

OP posts:
echt · 11/01/2014 07:47

Firefly
Moon
Silent Running
Sunshine
Minority Report
Alien Nation
Alien - OK, not really science fiction, more of a boogey man in space
Galaxy Quest - a film with heart

ctrlaltdel · 11/01/2014 07:55

Spaceballs Grin

starsandunicorns · 11/01/2014 08:03

Galaxy quest is brill and the fifth element I never stop tiring of watching them

notyummy · 11/01/2014 08:06

All the Aliens
Battle star Galatica remade series is utterly amazing- but make sure she knows it's an allegory about the war on terror....

notyummy · 11/01/2014 08:07

Oh and completely agree with Galaxy Quest. Makes me roar every time!
