Is Calamity Jane too old? (haven't seen it for years) - are there any other classics that we should add to the library? We have some of the recent ones like Monsters Inc and Nemo but I'm after a bigger range and films that all the family can enjoy together... (anticipating a few rainy sofa days this summer hols!)

My Ds lived the 5000 fingers of Dr T at that age
Also Jumanji

Bed knobs and broomsticks!! It was my fave as a child! :)

Ponders · 21/07/2012 20:53

one of mine could (& did Grin) watch Mary Poppins every day for months

Ponders · 21/07/2012 20:57

they also liked Willy Wonka (the Gene Wilder one), Sound of Music (but maybe not at 5), some Muppets, Wind in the Willows & that dinosaur one with Sarah

Virgil · 21/07/2012 20:59

My ds1 was scared by jumanji at six and a half and so I'd be careful with that one. It's a PG not a U.

Five Children and It is great if you can find it

Nobhead · 21/07/2012 21:01

I was obsessed with the Wizard of Oz at that age too, knew all the songs and had a Dorothy dress and ruby slippers. I also adored the Railway Children. Mary Poppins perhaps?

whatalovelyday · 21/07/2012 21:08

great ideas. thanks. yes dd has dress and shoes and plays it at school! we took her to the show last xmas and I know she will never every forget it.

Nanny mcPhee, My Neighbour Totoro, Ponyo, Finding Nemo

ponders, do you mean Labyrinth? Great film, though the teenage girl subtext goes right over their heads....
