I have only seen trailers and read one review of it in the papers. From what I can gather, it is a wildlife film, and that to anyone used to David Attenborough, it has a t4endency to be a bit soft and fluffy, but I wouldn't think children would worry about that.

I saw about 1/2 of it last week.
My children (4+6) liked it. DD would have loved it at 3 (or even 14m) but not DS at either age. It is compelling viewing (great scenes of penguines sliding on ice, etc) but more for adults who can understand how grim the conditions are that the penguins endure in order to have their babies.

It is fantastic, took my 6 year old. It is a documentary, so not exactly a story for children to follow, but nice to look at and cute with the babies and only about 90 mins long.

If you go to the website you can download colouring sheets and dot to dot activities things, so we've had great fun this week!

How much talking is there in this film? My DS is deaf and wears hearing aids but still has some truble in cinemas. We usually go to subtitled films but this one won't be for a while (if at all at our cinema). Is there lots of voice-over or would he be able to follow from only the pictures? He's 6. Thanks.

DH bought me this on DVD as a pressie the other day. It's wonderful. Spectacular pictures. DDs (ages 6 and 4) watched it with me and both enjoyed it. I asked them what they thought of it at the end and they both said it was very funny and sad. They liked the way the penguins pushed one another over and slipped up. Smile They also found it sad when the babies died. Sad It gave me the opporunity to explain to them that is how nature is.
The film was less gruesome than I imagined it to be - thought there was going to be more footage about hunters, both human and animal, but there was very little.
A really good feel good film - although a little sad at times. And did you see those Northern Lights??? Wow!
