My social life has dwindled to DVD nights since dd was born. Need to know what movies are crap as it's so annoying that my only fun is movie nights with dh. We get so mad after a bad movie, can't be doing with any more Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy's, or Royal Tenanbaums (both an insult to my backside for the two hours each I wasted sitting watching them)
Anyone got a real stinker I sould avoid?

I love Shall we Dance with Richard Gere.

pirates of the Carib is fab too.

Wimbledon was good.

Good - Million Dollar Baby, Wedding Crashers, Seabiscuit, Cinderella Man,

Awful - Cabin Fever. It is the measure which I hold up to all other movies. If I see something truely shite I just say "at least it wasn't as bad as Cabin Fever!

Hated The Royal Tenenbaums too. Sideways is awful IMO.

MrsSpoon · 29/01/2006 21:59

Agree with Collision, Pirates of the Carribean is fab.

Another vote for POTC!!
A future tip is that Jarhead is a bit hard going and slightly boring if not into the whole men at war thing. But great to drool over Jake Gyllenhaal for 2 hours.

we watched "Crash" recently and really enjoyed it.

Loved Sideways! Laughed myself sick.

Worst ever was Phone Booth - we say 'well, at least it was better than Phone Booth' - and there was another one with Colin Farrell in that was so bad we sent it back half wound.
Actually the quality of our rentals has vastly improved since we joined Amazon and stopped wandering aimlessly round Blockbuster trying to chose by the title graphic.

Enjoyed both Sideways and Phone Booth. The latter had the added advantage of being over in 75 minutes flat. Most films are far too long...

Alexander was absolutely gob smackingly awful
Actually I would advise any film with Colin Farrell be avoided
He is dreadful

Agree Million Dollar Baby was fabulous.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and House of Flying Daggers are pretty good watching, and also The Long Way Round with Charlie Boorman and Ewan McGregor on their motorbikes doing the Eastern Block was surprisingly entertaining and watchable.
