Okay so what film should I see this coming Saturday night?

(don't suggest Harry Potter though)

Dh and I have a babysitter - thought that we'd make a night of it and have a meal out followed by a movie...but since we don't get to the cinema often I don't follow film reviews and haven't got a clue regarding what is on / what's good.

What would you recommend, and why?:

We wouldn't want:
*a soppy romantic comedy
*or an American teen movie (like American Pie - no thanks)!
*or anything too cerebral

We like:

*action films
*thrillers / horrors
*quirky films

I'm as in the dark as you when it comes to current films but enjoy you're night out!

I'll be interested in the replies though - your taste is my taste!

also Constant Gardener. dh and i both wanted to see it but no babysitters so he went on his own. it's adapted from a recent John Le Carre book set largely in Kenya, the film stars Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz and has had great reviews. dh liked it but it's quite sad and violent.

Kiss Kiss bang bang: stars Robert Downey Jr and Val Kilmer plus a very good young female lead whose name escapes me. Plot one of those very complicated American thrillers written by someone who loves Raymond Chandler and other classic pulp detective novels (I don't love them btw). A feel of LA Confidential but more silly and cheap. I really like Rob D Jr and he is good in this but Val Kilmer is hilarious. Film feels intelligent though isn't particularly, and was really enjoyable

Sounds right up my street Acnebride - thanks

The Libertine - Johhny Depp very sexy, lots of good acting, bit of history, bit yukky, bit naughty. Loved it.

doormat · 07/12/2005 11:04

handlemecarefully · 07/12/2005 11:09
