Thriller DVD recommendations for a 16 year old

I want to buy a DVD for a 16 year old boy but dont know what that age might like. Any suggestions would be very gratefully received! Thanks.

Is it a boy who is a film-fan? Are they likely to already have some of these kind of films?

Something like Inception, District 9, Twelve Monkeys, eXistenZ, The Departed, LA Confidential, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie - that's a mix of historical/sci-fi thrillers. I haven't checked whether some of these are 18's though, but my 16 yr old loves them.
