Star Wars III is it suitable for 8 year old?

My ds is clamouring to watch it, but it's a 12. Has anyone seen it? Would you/wouldn't you let an 8 year old watch it? Can you tell me why it's a 12?

This is the only one my ds (6) hasn't watched. If I remember, it is the one where Anakin falls into a fiery volcano(!) and is badly burned/injured and becomes Darth Vader. You see his whole body burning and there are close ups of him in intense pain.

I seem to remember this one as being quite dark, for example it focuses on the hero becoming the villain and what he does to end up that way, but I'll have to watch it again before deciding when my ds should be allowed to watch it.

My DS is 5 and is not allowed to watch it -he LOVES the other ones. His cousin is 8 - nine in march- and has watched it - he was fine - I would ideally watch it yourself and make a judgment

I was hoping to avoid having to watch it as I can't stand them . I think I'll tell him he has to wait until he's older .
