I was sure Toy Story 3 was going to be a let down.

How wrong was I??

It was fan-bloody-tastic.

I've been saying for months that I was scared it was going to be crap, TS1 & 2 are my favourite kids films and I just couldn't see Disney getting it so right 3 times!

I cried and laughed so much.

Yes, I know I am sad, but I loved it!

It's fab. Took DD (6.5) and DS (just 5) to it as treat after the dentist, but it was for me really! I blubbed, DD let out the occasional scream and sob (that monkey, and the bear showing its true colours) but DS, being that bit less emotionally involved in the plot just thought it was great. Highly recommended. trying to think of justification to go again...

BelligerentGhoul · 26/07/2010 18:49

Just back - we really enjoyed it. DD cried but dp and I remained strong. It was the first film I've ever seen in 3D - amazing this new technology, eh?!!

nannynick · 26/07/2010 18:55

latermater - do you need justification to go again... just go! Though you could always make it a competition to see how many of the characters from other pixar films you can spot.

SlashFilm have done a comprehensive analysis of all the references made to former and possible future Pixar releases.

Oh, that would be fantastic. I do have an ENORMOUS Totoro anyway, but there's always room for another

clayre · 26/07/2010 19:37

well it was brilliant! Kids loved it as did dp and me, im glad i had the 3d glasses on near the end as i could hardly see the film for the tears in my eyes!!

nannynick · 26/07/2010 19:38

jbox are excellent for Ghibli stuff (and all things Japanese)

I've ordered from them a lot.

Anyway.. Ghibli takeover done, as you were

Aww feeling sad as DH is taking DD (3yo) for her first cinema trip tomorrow but I have to work . There isn't an opportunity for us to see it all together. But I expect I'll have enough of it by the time we get the DVD and DD watches it over and over again!

Hope she isn't too upset at it. We have had to stop her watching Rugrats the Movie for a while as she as getting really upset when Tommy and Dill got lost together. Then the other night she cried before bed saying she didn't want to be 3 any more, she wanted to be two again and didn't want to be a 'big sister' (DC2 not even born yet!) Think it was a reaction to the movie. She is obviously taking it all in a lot more than I thought.

ruddynorah · 26/07/2010 20:08

i actually wasn't massively impressed with it

i took dd and her best friend, both 4. dd was rather bored by the time the toys arrived at daycare. her friend was more interested but only a bit.

neither of them laughed at all at any of it.

we all loved 1 and 2 though. shame

bruffin · 27/07/2010 22:08

We loved it. It DH, DS 14 and DD 12. DS was born the year toy story came out, but was a mad Buzz fan by the time he was 3 and DD adored Jesse (remember having great difficulty in gettint the Jesse doll for her birthday) DD got very excited at the studio ghibli character

It was the perfect ending to the trilogy and it was lovely they used the same boy to play Andy even though he hasn't done any acting in between.

GreatOrmondSt · 28/07/2010 17:26

It sounds brilliant, I think I'm going to have to take the DC to see it now. We all loved the other two films, is it as good as those?
