Joanna Wietrzyk, sports win and incident

Joanna Wietrzyk won a sporting event but some people are being critical- no this isn't about gender. Without mincing any words she sh*t herself during the event and continued through to the end with it running down her bare legs and everywhere. She used and sat down on equipment which would be shared by other competitors.

After the event the area had to be evacuated and decontaminated and equipment thrown out.

Thoughts? Is this a woman who rightly won her gold medal? What if she only won because the other competitors felt ill? Or should she have stopped and pulled out the moment the incident happened?

The event has apologised for how they handled it now.

IMO this is a sports or biohazard issue, not a woman related issue.

It happens in other sports, but is easier to manage- the equipment isn’t impacted. THis was a bio hazard badly managed.

I feel so sorry for her. how embarrassing! and I can imagine in the heat of the moment not knowing what to do.

Should her medal be revoked and should the other competitors, who had to share shit covered equipment with her and run on shit covered floor, receive compensation?

Paula Radcliffe famously had to do a poo by the side of the road during the London marathon and went on to win. It's a well known hazard of sport. Hopefully they'll introduce a rule that if it happens again everyone stops until it's sorted out.

I'm hoping they disqualify her and refund everyone else. Hyrox have behaved appallingly letting her contaminate the equipment.

Her smug " a win is a win" comment was in bad taste. Awful person.

Why should the other athletes have to start over, as soon as it happened she should gave left the race and cleaned herself up without fuss. She, her coach and the race organisers are all to blame., this wasn't a small poo, it was a diarrhoea poonami.

in a marathon or other (outdoor) running event contamination of equipment is not an issue like it was here.

There's another thread about this. The consensus is she should have had to stop and clean up.

Time to slow down when your body expels explosive diarrhoea, if she felt it coming on she should have quit, it's a bit late now after the event to worry about safety, health and contamination.

She should have been pulled out. This particular race has rules prohibiting spitting and expelling snot. You’ll be pulled out if you do that. I guess they felt they didn’t need a rule about shitting yourself.
