Really bad news about how men objectify women.

This looks like really bad news to me. Men in a state of arousal objectifying women. That means that if they've watched porn or been turned on by another woman in a bikini on the beach, they can't help but objectify you (unless they focus really hard on empathy). It would explain quite a lot, and undermine the NAMALT beliefs.

Men objectify women more when sexually aroused, regardless of their underlying personality traits

Sexual objectification is often blamed on toxic personality traits, but new research suggests a more universal trigger. A recent study provides evidence that temporary states of sexual arousal cause men to objectify women, regardless of their underlyin...

I hope they run a similar test on heterosexual women to see just how big the difference is.

Are you male or female?

I'll take a bet that the gap is huge.

Most men can orgasm with purely physical sensations. Many women can't orgasm without mental/emotional connection.

Good point. The study sounds weird. "Afterward [after viewing sexual arousing images], the participants completed a task designed to measure their current state of sexual objectification. In this task, the men rated how desirable they found ten physical sexual attributes, such as being curvy, compared to ten mental attributes, such as intelligence and empathy. The researchers found that sexually aroused men showed a greater preference for women’s sexual physical attributes over psychological ones."

I think if I had just watched a sexually arousing video for example, I would "show a greater preference" for an attractive male physical quality e.g. a nice muscular back or hard dick than I would for someone with interesting views on Camus. It's called being horny?

Well, we already know that both sexes objectify scantily clad/sexualised women. Not just in the sense of sexually objectifying them but in actually seeing them as less human. It's a similar dynamic to how people regard food animals as compared to pets - i.e. with less empathy.

There was a long discussion on here with loads of links. Will try and dig it out tomorrow.

That's hardly news is it ?
Sounds like stating the obvious to me.

There's a lot of that in research these days, they have to keep dreaming up stuff for people to do for a PhD!

On the other hand, it's somtimes a surprising what "obvious things" turn out to be untrue.
