I thought it was AI when I first saw it on X. Do they think this will increase sales?

I have no idea what you are talking about and as the link needs an Instagram account to work it doesn't help at all.

AndStand · 06/10/2025 20:53

He looks surly and a bit threatening

defrazzled · 06/10/2025 21:06

I just can't see it increasing sales, isn't that the point of adverts?

He looks like Viktor Krum hitting a dry spell after his Quidditch success.

CarobBean72 · 06/10/2025 21:33

He looks just like a sulky thuggish man - albeit with really very good skin, or perhaps airbrushing.

i don’t know who it’s supposed to appeal to except the Algerian sports authorities & men who fancy men but would rather believe they’re straight.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 06/10/2025 22:09

Not sure the hefty shoulder pads were the best choice for the press conference.

😂Genius

I think it’s great he’s showing men can wear make up too. And in a conservative country like Algeria. Who knows, it might bring back manscara and guyliner abd open up a whole new market for cosmetics firms.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 07/10/2025 06:35

Ah well, welcome to the Budlite effect guys! They have done it on purpose-who else had never heard of the brand before now? You have now!

Like the "looks even better on a girl" ads in the 80s by Boots 17?

I was thinking more like the New Romantics of the 80s. Seriously, I bet he could get loads of blokes wearing makeup, and that’s one less gendered stereotype removed. Now if we could just get more men to wear dresses and accept dresses are not gendered we’d be golden.

defrazzled · 07/10/2025 18:31

I agree @Namelessnelly but we all know that is not what we're meant to be thinking here.

I'm not convinced they should be competing in women's boxing but what's the point of this thread? To mock their appearance? Bit mean spirited IMO. 😳

Namelessnelly · 07/10/2025 21:41

No one’s mocking his appearance. I for one am very glad he’s expanding the bandwidth of what is to be a man and encouraging more men to wear makeup. If we keep pushing the ideas that men can wear makeup and dresses if they want to, it can only be a good thing right?

ThePoshUns · 07/10/2025 21:42

Walks like a man, talks like a man

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 07/10/2025 21:45

I honestly thought this was a parody. Whatever you think of Imane those are truly awful photos. What is with the scowling?!

I presume it is aiming to get more foundation sold, but as women are the predominant buyers of makeup, what on earth is the point of getting a man, and a very controversial man at that, to advertise it. It's almost as if the company is doing an " up yours" to women.
As a side note, having only ever seen him in the boxing ring with no make up, he looks just as male with all the slap on. It's very hard to see how anyone could have ever believed he is a woman.

I think women are both the biggest opponents and supporters of the trans lobby. Same as how young women are the main demographic that love drag artists. Most men are a bit icked out by transwomen even if they won't admit it. This will likely be aimed at the woke brigade.

SabrinaThwaite · 07/10/2025 23:18

It’s an Algerian cosmetics company, so they have quite possibly bought into the Khelif story. Or at least bought into the publicity that Khelif brings.

When it turns out that Khelif never boxes again, for reasons, it won’t matter, the brand name is out there.

TimeForATerf · 07/10/2025 23:40

The second picture with the big, chunky, very male boxer’s fist. The fist used for punching women in the face and the wording at the top “Made for champions”.

Revolting.

I am also trying not to be irritated by his signature comprising a mixture of upper and lower case letters.

The point of the thread is to ask why on earth a make up company would use man to advertise their products which are presumably bought by women.

All the make up in the world won't make him a woman.

Breaking down gender stereotypes? I dunno. Maybe it's had the desired effect just but getting people talking about it.

viques · 20/10/2025 12:29

I think if I was the owner of that make up brand I would be wondering if the marketing department actually knew what they were doing………..
