Keir Starmer suspends four welfare rebels as Labour MPs

The prime minister has withdrawn the whip from four Labour MPs who voted against the government's welfare reforms.

The Labour leader has suspended Rachael Maskell, Brian Leishman, Neil Duncan-Jordan and Chris Hinchliff.

All four were part of a wider 47-strong rebellion earlier this month.
Leishman, Duncan-Jordan, and Hinchliff were first elected at last year’s election. Rachael Maskell has been the MP for York since 2015.

As well as the four suspended MPs, ITV News understands three MPs, Dr Rosena Allin Khan, Bell Ribeiro-Addy and Mohammed Yasin, have all had their roles as trade envoys removed.

All three MPs were among the 47 welfare rebels last month.

Labour veteran on Starmer’s latest wave of removing whip from rebel MPs: “expelling Rachael Maskell is like expelling Mother Theresa. They are crackers”

I don't think I would've liked Mother Teresa either 😂

So, guessing you put this in the wrong section by mistake? Not sure why it's a feminist issue, never mind sex and gender one.

Because believe it or not women are voters.

And women have opinions about politics, politicians, party behaviour.

Even more intesting to hear from women who are feminists what their perspective is.

I suspect you are on the wrong forum, or perhaps you dont grasp or understand or value a feminist perspective!

(Not helped by MNHQ re badging this as "sex and gender" in a way to limit discusion. But if you look at the URL for this forum it is "Women's Rights". And in line with feminists being independent thinkers they aren't easy to corral into conforming into group think.)

I thought the section for that was "feminist chat" but when you look at the top of the screen, it is hard to tell which section you're in.

Okay, well what do you think? There seems to be very little information available about the reasons why this has happened.

Politics area perhaps

Hi, OP. We've moved your thread to the Feminism Chat board now as we thought it was a better fit here.

There are two forums, Feminism: Chat and Feminism: Sex and Gender. Not hard to work out and nobody is trying to limit discussion. Quite the opposite, if you know the history of this place. You're in the wrong forum, EmeraldRoulette isn't.
