I'm a bit confused about what Kate Nash is going on about.

Apparently in order to raise money for her tour, she's selling images of her arse on Only fans.

She says:

that the reaction so far has been “overwhelmingly supportive”, with just a few “non-liberal feminists” criticising her decision

I'm wondering if she's one of those women who thinks any old crap a woman does is feminist. She says it shows she's got 'agency'.

I'm getting fed up with the idea that selling sex, posing half naked and having an Only fans account is seen as empowered.

I think Only Fans is a terrible idea, but it's absolutely the music industry. People don't buy CDs any more. There's no money from streaming and unless you're Ed Sheeran/Coldplay/Oasis touring can be a risky business financially.
One of my favourite artists had 7 top 40 albums in the 80s/90s. In their late 60s now and still touring, because CD sales have dried up. Small to medium size venues. Can't charge silly money for tickets. Paying a band/hotels/expenses means that you're lucky to make a small profit or even break even. To make enough money to live on for the rest of the year? Almost impossible.
And they've got an established audience. How new acts are supposed to make a living, god only knows.

All I see when I watch many young female pop stars, is them dressing and acting in a very sexual manner. I was watching something the other day and it was a woman on stage just wearing knickers and a top.

People talk about them wearing costumes but I don't see men performing in pants or a leotard. I can imagine that, though men are more advantaged, they are also struggling financially. They also don't earn much from streaming services.

Yet I don't know of any male recording artists selling images of their arse on Only fans. I can imagine that if Harry Styles set up an Only fans account and started selling arse images they'd be very popular.

I made this comment when Ed Sheeran came onstage with Taylor Swift this year. Taylor was wearing a long dress and looking all glamorous and Sheeran looked like he'd just got out of bed. Tatty jeans and a top.
The music business is riddled with sexism.

Lily Allen claims she makes more money selling pictures of her feet than she died from her music on Spotify. Maybe it is the industry.

Well another "used to be a popstar" 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lily Allen did pretty well, it's not so much about whether she used to be a popstar as much as the fact that the music business doesn't pay enough any more and the likes of Spotify are ripping people off.

If it actually gave you power, men would do their damnedest to stop us.

👍👍👍

OF are most likely paying her to say she does it, it is empowering etc - they pay a lot of women to 'influence' in this way.
