The Guardian cites every woman killed this year by a man in an attempt to highlight violence against women.

I have been reading through the list, and see there's one a few streets away. These poor women. So many killed by their partners or former partners. And for all those murdered, how many more are in abusive relationships, which may or may not end in death.

Every life taken is tragic. Yet we don't hear about the debilitating mental health and suicide caused by abuse nor the illness and disability.

Male violence is out of control.

We must keep talking about it and keeping these women in our minds.

I’ve read the whole article. Are we going to see the usual ‘nice man had a moment of madness’ defences in court again? Especially with the old men.

I made a point of reading about each one of them this morning. Meaningless probably but it felt like the least I could do.
RIP all of them x

I did the same. I feel it's important to see each and every woman as a human being and to learn a little about them.

They were all harrowing stories but the Carol Matthews story really shocked me.
The husband had no problem with admitting that he’d killed her because he couldn’t stand witnessing her suffering. But Carol did not want to die, she wanted to live and despite being frail put up a fight for her life. How dare he think he had any say in ‘ending her misery’. He admitted she did not want to die. I hope he has a long and painful decline in a misery of his own making.
