If they were unisex toilets and the fireworks were detonated using pressure, wouldn't the victims have been just as likely to be male?

Vast majority of people sitting down in a public toilet would be women or children. Overwhelming majority of men stand and spray. He was not targeting men.

It says he waited for the women to go in before detonating the fireworks. He was clearly watching who went in and was prepared to attack them from somewhere nearby.

It says they were detonated by pressure in the main article. The headline appears badly written.

Whoever sat down first - male or female - was going go be the victim.

Did he detonate them when the women and girls went in or were they pressure-triggered? The article says both of these in different paragraphs.

Although regardless, it's a man doing something criminal in an intimate space that women use.

I agree. The article implies he detonated them specifically when women went in but later says they were detonated by pressure. I would think the pressure option is the more likely otherwise I don't think that detail would included.

It's an act of terror. The power itself might not have hurt anybody but what about a very elderly person?

He used a space that men and women use.

I don't see this as a deliberate attack on women though.
