Sydney attacker may have targeted women

Headline in the RTE news this morning (I can't link because I'm on my phone).

I had noticed that most of the victims were women.

So an incel then.

His own parents said he was frustrated he couldn't get a girlfriend.

Makes me mad.

Yeah, I noticed yesterday that they were mostly younger, beautiful women, and I wondered.

There was one man, also, but I think I heard that he was a security guard or similar, so perhaps he tried to intervene?

Ah, I hadn't heard that.

It was obvious as soon as the victim’s identities/information about them started to be released.

The police have said that it was 'obvious' he was targeting women which has made me wonder how common this is among these type of attackers.

I was wondering where all the headlines about this were! One smaller one way down the BBC feed, nothing trending on Twitter... And with the news of the verdict on the Parliament rape, it's another heavy day for women in Australia.

Australia as a country is very socially backwards - misogyny, racism and homophobia are rife. I lived there for a year, about ten years ago, and I was absolutely shocked by the casual bigotry in conversations. Why so many Brits move there I will never understand. It was like the UK circa 1983 in terms of attitudes. I never felt comfortable there, as a woman.

I’m so angry that this happened to these women and the man who tried to help them. What kind of monster stabs a baby. Honestly I could barely type that it’s so awful.
