Sex offenders changing their names

So it has finally come to light that sex offenders etc can change their names using a loop hole in the law and avoid being picked up via any checking service.

who would have thought it…….?

This loophole has been exposed by Sarah Champion and by the group KPSS (Keep Prisons Single Sex). Currently its illegal to change your name for illegal purposes or fraud, and registered sex offenders are expected to declare any name change using an honour system.

''In response to Sarah’s campaigning work, the Government has committed to review a loophole which allows registered sex offenders to change their name without the knowledge of the police.
Sarah tabled a new clause to the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill which would require the Government to review how this is happening and develop solutions.''
