Falmouth uni - sexism

Argh. This just made me so cross and I had to share.

Sponsored Stories on my SM feed, I have nothing to do with Falmouth Uni nor Business degrees but all 3 pictures feature men participating in the course and this one infuriated me. I mean, we are well aware of men who "have to work" while the woman in their life single handedly meets all the children's needs unaided by the smiling knob on his tech, but why doesn't anyone ever wonder if this is a good ADVERT. Unless you are.just marketing it to unhelpful males who are happier on tech than interacting in the family life around them....

Their website shows a real mix of different people studying in different situations. From a cursory look, they seem very inclusive to me.

It’s an unfortunate choice of stock image, and I don’t feel it represents the culture of that uni at all.

Libraries of stock images are horribly devoid of diversity, social awareness and balance. It takes active effort to find and use a more balanced and fair range of images, and often marketing campaigns don’t bother.

I’m not saying it’s right, just that it’s not reflecting the uni itself, more the agency that created the ads and the stock image libraries that make it unnecessarily hard to source non cliched images.

It's just so infuriating that no one takes a minute at any point to stop and think, "what does this protest? Do we like the message it sends?"

And the fact that many people would think this depicts something completely acceptable too

It's such a shame that the sponsored content they're pumping out is not in any way an accurate reflection of them them.
