I have to start off by saying that I won’t be voting for either candidate as I’m not a member of the Conservative Party- so I have no loyalties either way!
I’ve seen some of the debates with Liz Truss and I feel like she’s getting an easy ride. She obviously comes across as someone who gets things done, and I want things done as much as the next person. But when those things are going to make the lives of vulnerable people harder- maybe not?
I think people are impressed by her steely appraoch and lack of emotions. It seems that going against the stereotype of women being emotional is really captivating people. I think it’s a shame that we’re not looking underneath all that and seeing how little her policies will help ordinary people and families.
If Liz Truss had exactly the same policies, but delivered them with a different demeanour, she would have been written off.
I’d rather have someone who cares and who has a track record of putting their money where their mouth is.
