And other improvements to healthcare services for women.
Let's hope it actually happens.

Sounds like progress ? Yesterday I read that they were going to teach medical students about women's health... Maybe we're on a rollHmm

Let's welcome that they've come to the party at all.

And, yes, of course the muttering in our heads will continue and some of us may have some questions about some definitions that the NHS will be using.

Absolutely spot on Embarrassing

Just seen about this 'women's health initiative' on the BBCnews. Sounds very positive- women and girls centered (no definitions, but pictures of lots of w&g), and lots about listening to our health problems rather than just telling us 'it's normal' when we speak about our pain. Very poignant comment from a woman whose endometriosis was ignored for years "let's face it, you've either got a vagina, or you've got a voice". Let's hope that's changing.

I’ve just posted with a brilliant quote form a women bbc news interviewed. Sums it up nicely

Had a really depressing conversation today with a friend about maternity services. Feel we’re a long way off, listening to women, researching female health and acting to make thing better. I really hope this is a step forward, it’s an utterly depressing picture at the moment.

Why does the patriarchal structure still persuade largely female professionals to overlook pain as reported by other women>?

Why is there such a fixed and hard to dismantle belief that we are unreliable narrators of our own experience?

It's one of the reasons that I'm choosing to be optimistic about the likely impact of the Chief Nursing Officer's initiative to support more nurses to initiate and participate in research as a recognised part of their jobs and career pathways.

“create a people-centred research environment that empowers nurses to lead, participate in and deliver research, where research is fully embedded in practice and professional decision-making, for public benefit”.
