Dominic Raab doesn't know what misogyny means

Just heard him say on BBC breakfast that misogyny is a problem whether it's a man committing it against a woman or a woman committing it against a man 🙈

Does anyone have a clip of it?

Couldn't believe my ears. Sally Nugent had to read him the dictionary definition of misogyny.

In normal times it would be bad enough but how has he not heard that word used this week in reference to the Sarah Everard case?

Troubling.

Irritatingly that twitter user has missed the key word. Someone will have it though.

I was watching it with my hands over my eyes.

He is the justice secretary. The justice secretary.

Our justice secretary does not know what misogyny is.

By default women should shoulder their fair share of blame for everything. Including misogyny.

Well of course! but don't worry, pesky 'women' will soon be erased as a class to be replaced by people with a cervix, or chest feeders or walking vaginas or whatever term the men dream up next.

I suspect he thinks it's just another word for sexism.

Misandry is the word for hating men just for being men, but I think women can be misogynistic. If for example I call Dominic Raab a twat, I would be part of the misogynistic narrative that women's bodies are shameful and disgusting, and that it's much worse for a man to be called a name that means female genetalia than male genitalia (eg if I just called him a dickhead)

Male privilege in a nutshell.

And I am so sick of stupid men bleating about women's 'misandry' as if women hating men, which is always a personal and Individual reaction to how men abuse, rape, assault and murder their sex class, is even close to the structural, institutional and cultural misogyny we see in every society in every country across the world. Misandry isn't even a real thing.

I haven't seen the whole clip, why is he talking about 'insults'. Does he think misogyny consists of insults?
Also - does James Felton know what a woman is now?

ArabellaScott · 06/10/2021 10:42

Well, women don't really exist, do they? So the word can mean anything.

Upsielazy · 06/10/2021 10:46

Absolutely ridiculous but sadly not surprising. This has to be one of the worst governments ever right, they're all crap.

Genuinely, how do you get to be a grown adult, let alone a senior politician, not understanding the word? I can understand - to an extent - being completely oblivious to the disgusting level of oppression women as a class face daily, but he's basically admitting he didn't listen to or understand any person that has pointed this out.

What a fucking wally.

@SinoohXaenaHide I’m sure you’re right, he thinks it just means sexism. And he’s thinking about trivial examples.
