Ok, I jest. But did anyone catch the segment on Newsbeat just now?

In summary:

  • Played Pornhub theme (?) and joked that “that’s the Pornhub intro music - but you probably already knew that”
  • 50% of adults watched Pornhub during lockdown
  • Interviewed a man who has made money selling porn videos on OnlyFans

Unclear what the point of the segment was. No social commentary. Just normalising porn and suggesting there’s a massive audience if you fancy getting into it.

?!?

but there is a massive audience for it and if someone wants to get into it, why not let them? better to be working in front of a camera at home than on the street...

the issue isnt with porn being normalised...its the type of porn.. porn with women in control of their own body and what they do with it is healthy and safe

Dogdramas · 10/06/2021 04:46

So there is good porn and bad porn? Hmm🙄

i dont know what the emojis are for but they seem a little snide.

i think its obvious that porn where a woman gets r**ped is worse than porn where the woman is in control and genuinely enjoying herself.

I was all ready to be up in arms about this but it sounds like a news story tbh

NiceGerbil · 12/06/2021 23:16

The pro stuff always digs out a man to talk about selling sex etc

Thelnebriati · 12/06/2021 23:20

Nothing about the recent Ofstead report about boys harassing girls for nudes then?

They've got a plug for Only Fans on the website too. Apparently lockdown was a good time to start making content

Hannah thinks there's still a way to go in removing the stigma of watching porn for everyone, whether single or in a relationship.

I honestly have no words.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 13/06/2021 08:20

Hannah is very positive about the benefits of watching porn, isn't she. And there is no balance in that article, remember Newsbeat is the bit aimed at a younger audience.

cheeseismydownfall · 13/06/2021 08:28

I just cannot get my head around the fact that the BBC is publishing was is effectively a pro-porn article simultaneous to reporting that OFSTED have found that porn use is one of the contributory factors to almost all female children being subject sexual harassment.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 13/06/2021 08:36

And their investigation into onlyfans showing children have been able to create accounts.

Pornography is an abusive industry predicated on trafficking, exploitation, violence and degradation. Ditto prostitution.

People can choose to delude themselves otherwise, but I don't think much of their choices tbh. That includes BBC producers.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 22/06/2021 11:56

BBC Newsbeat at it again - Onlyfans again this time. Someone at Newsbeat is very keen on this sort of thing, clearly.
